I watched two 1 star (see Ratings) modern movies on the plane today at the same time, on other people's screens rows ahead of me. One was some survival film about people trying to live on an island, and another was a movie about a dating coach. I followed the plot of both movies without hearing any audio, and only half paying attention.

Unsurprising, as most modern entertainment doesn't require people to be engaged.
